Nook (tastic) Nook (alicious) – Unboxing my Nook
Today (Now about a week ago) we went to Barnes and Noble for a few books for the kids. They had Nooks in stock so I decided to mess around a bit. Long story short I ended up bringing one home.
It’s now been a couple of days since I got it and I’ve read a 500 page book on it. All I can says is wow! I love it!
The only downside is: In my area there is no AT&T 3G coverage (I know, you’re shocked aren’t you!?) So I have to connect to wifi to make a purchase, which isn’t a big deal, but it would be nice to be able to purchase a book anywhere. No idea why these companies insist on using AT&T?
I took some pictures while I was unboxing it, so here they are.
Edit: My cover came today so I updated the gallery with a few pictures of it in there. And took a comparison shot next to a book my son is reading.
Excellent.
I think that companies use AT&T because Verizon wants them to obey too many rules. When I got my first cell phone, I read all I could and settled on a Razr, only to see that Verizon had intentionally crippled many of the features for connecting to the PC, listening to music, and applying ringtones. It was only a short time until third party apps were developed to bypass this, but it still ticked me off.
Seems we’re stuck with either 1) a company that cripples great tech to make you spend more money for their services or 2) a company who has poor coverage.
Nice Nook. Nice site. How ’bout a picture of it in hand, so its size is more apparent?
Nice — small.
